Museums Making it Happen was a Hit!

After a whirlwind week of work, travel, and networking, I am slightly exhausted. But in that “I got a ton accomplished” way. I had an amazing time at the California Association of Museums Conference on Thursday. I met some great people in the museum field and took to heart some amazing advice.  I hope to continue to develop the relationships I have fostered, as well as get to work on some of the amazing ideas inspired by the sessions.

Check out CAM’s Facebook page to see some great photos of Maker Stations, evening events, and some awesome people.

CAM Conference 2012

Last week I got the opportunity to join the team of the California Association of Museums Conference in Berkeley.  I am really excited to help out on Thursday, February 16, as well as attend some amazing session discussions. CAM 2012: ‘Museums Making it Happen’ will showcase the Golden State’s creativity and innovation in museum institutions. I am really looking forward to the networking opportunities and chances to learn and develop my skills in the museum industry.  If you’re planning on attending, let me know!

Portfolio Update!

Come one! Come all! To the updated website and portfolio page.

A recent photography class gave me the tools and tricks to take professional pictures of my work.  I learned enough to update my portfolio and made a whole bunch of new friends in the Grass Valley area!  After a few rounds of Photoshop, the pictures are ready to be uploaded for your enjoyment!  Check them out!  Let me know what you think.

On a related note, my new friends introduced me to a gallery in Grass Valley who was looking for artists with small artworks for a holiday show.  I have six small pieces in the Artists Studios in the Foothills, or the ASIF gallery. If you’re in the area you should check out the show. It features almost 1,000 pieces from artists throughout northern California.

In Progress

Well, the website is coming along!  We have a couple gallery images, a snazy page describing my ideas about art, and even a few cool links. And thanks to WordPress, it all looks way cooler than I could ever code.

Feel free to let me know what you think.  A little critique never hurt anyone.

Website: Re-Launch

As you can see, Art by Katherine is undergoing a bit of a facelift.  I can rebuild the website to become something more… better, stronger, faster!  Coming soon will be professional portfolios, about pages, and fascinating tidbits.  Don’t miss all the excitement!
