Exquisite Poverty
Acrylic paint, gold leaf, magazine, watercolor paper, purchased frame
60cm × 40cm
Inspired by character Holly in the iconic film Breakfast at Tiffany’s, this artwork seeks to artistically explore the social phenomenon of "exquisite poverty" prevalent among today's younger generation. Through the division of space and color contrast, it aims to present the entrapment within a state of financial and emotional misery caused by this relentless pursuit of materialistic luxuries that are incongruous with individuals’ own identities and socio-economic status.
